The "Dirty Nine" Get's Lit Up Once Again

I noticed that my side marker brake lights stopped working the other day...actually I knew only one worked for the past 6 months at least...

Need to take a closer look...probably just a bulb...

NOT! I had to pull them off and completely rewire them...

...and here we go...

New wire end installed on  a new wire for the right side...

Installed in the housing...

Put the light back together and installed back on the fender...one down...

Removed the left light and pulled the guts out...

Housing ready to go...

Had to drill out the insulator to fit the new wire...nothings ever easy...

Wire installed with new end...

Heat shrink...

I reassembled everything and the light still didn't work! Fucker!

This type of marker light does not use a spring, it uses a rubber grommet to keep pressure on the insulator and in turn contact with the wire and bulb...the one in this housing was worn out so I had to add a new grommet to make up the space and keep it tight to the bulb ...of course it took several tries to get the correct tension...

Hey! Success!!!! They both work great!

Not so fast motherfucker...upon further investigation I found that the taillight wasn't working anymore either...who knows how long that's been out? The bulb went limp...

The bulb was broken in the socket...

At last an easy fix...new bulb and she lit right up!

Trifecta!!!!
